- Wheel brace
- Winch
- Long handled shovel
- Axe/saw
- First Aid kit
- Extensive toolkit - screw drivers, spanners, tyre repair kit
- Jumper cables
Before setting off:
Always -- Check recovery points at front and back of vehicle
- Check tyres - pressure, lug nuts and tread
- Fluid levels - radiator coolant, engine oil, transmission, brake fluid, window washers
- Check leads and hoses
- Make sure you have water for the trip
For longer trips, it is also a good idea to consider:
- Spare spark plugs
- Radiator hoses
- Engine oil
- Fan belt
