Description:


This is an attractive small to medium fish with a moderately deep, elongated body. The colouration of this species of fish varies depending on its environment, as Bass can range from almost black to a much lighter copperish shade.

Size:


Male Bass are notably smaller than the female species. Most are less than 4kg in weight. Any Bass which weighs in beyond that is an exceptional catch. Males mostly weigh up to 1.6kg.

Where:


Australian bass are a native freshwater species, but require estuarine water to spawn. This fish is predominantly found along the coast from Victoria to the southern end of Queensland.
