Description:


Also knowas the Dewfish, the catfish is a native freshwater fish. It is identifiable by its scaleless black or blue black coloured back with grey sides gradually fading to a yellow to white belly, and its distinguishing whiskers. Eel tailed catfish have a hard serrated spine and dorsal which may inflict nasty injuries, and are coated in a venomous mucus which in some humans cause from mild to severe reactions. Care must always be taken when handling an eel tailed catfish.

Commonly to 50 - 90cm, weighing from 1.8 kg to around 6.8 kg

Where:


It is prohobited to fish for eel tailed catfish in western flowing waters in NSW.
