Description:


Also referred to as Gardies, gars or beakies. The Garfish is a slender species of fish. It has an extended lower jaw which takes on a beak like appearance. Body colour varies from silver to a bright silvery-blue or silvery green and fades to a pale colour underneath. It is quite common for this fish to have a red tip on the end of its pointed jaw.

Size:


Usually found between 25-35cm and weights of 0.2kg.

Where:


widespread worldwide. Found along the eastern Australian coastline from Southern Queensland down to Victoria,and around Tasmania through to the Western Australian waters. They inhabit shallow flats where there is plenty of weed.

How:


Usually caught on a light line, with small hook and a float baited with bread or 'dough' mix.
