Description:


Although leatherjackets are relativly small fish, this variety is the largest of the of this species. The body of the fan tail leatherjacket is creamy/green and has brown blothes. Letherjackets are often recognised by their distinctive dorsal fin, which is situated above the eyes.It has a noticeable large fan-like tail and the distinguishing feature of its scaleless leather like skin.

This particular variety can reach up to 50cm in length.

Fantail Leatherjackets can be caught on most types of tackle and baits, however a light line and small hook ( preferably a long shank or beak ) will be more successful.
