This variety is the largest of the species. Slim speedy fish with a pointed nose and a mouthful of dagger- like teeth. The colour of the spanish mackerel varies from a dark green/blue back with silver sides which has dark grey, green and even purple vertical bars running the length of the fish.
Most commonly caught between 2 to 12 kg. However has been known to weigh in at more than 30kg.
