The rare coral within the reef is protected as part of the Lord Howe Island Marine Park, helping in the preservation of the islands natural aquatic beauty.

Due to its ideal location and the temperate waters of the Tasman Sea, Lord Howe Island is a fishing sanctuary overflowing with marine life. Not only do you have the opportunity to catch many fish species whilst visiting the island, it also offers a variety of fishing choices for you to explore such as, coastal fishing, game fishing, deep reef fishing, or lagoon fishing - the choice is yours. Spear fishing is not permitted on the island.
Everyone planning a trip to Lord Howe Island must pre-book before arrival. There is a limit of 400 visitors to the island at one time – meaning the island is never overcrowded making the experience more enjoyable. Camping is not permitted on Lord Howe Island, however there is accommodation to suit all budgets.
