Yengo National park is part of the Blue Mountains World Heritage area, situated just 100km north of Sydney near Wisemans Ferry. Due to its close proximity to Sydney and Newcastle it makes for a great day trip or a weekend camping adventure. Yengo is a rugged area of steep gorges, rocky ridges, hills and valleys. It is home to local Aboriginal and early convict history ( Old Great North Road and Bucketty wall ).
Not only is their some great camping sites throughout Yengo National Park their are also some 4wd trails for the avid 4x4 enthusiast to take on. Although these trails are not considered difficult in wet weather they may be slippery and a little tricky so always take caution. These trails take you to some interesting spots to explore along the way, and offers you the unforgettable experience of viewing some of the most fascinating ancient aboriginal rock carvings you are likely to come across in this region.
When planning a visit to Yengo National Park it is important to note that many of the tracks are suitable for 4WD vehicles only – so if you travel in a standard 2wd you should check were you are planning to go is accessible. However, many of the camping areas in Yengo and its surrounds have suitable 2wd access.
Camping is available at several areas within Yengo National Park, some of these camping grounds include: Blue Gum Camping Area, Finchley Camping Area, Mogo Camping Area. There is also a homestead at Big Yango which is available for hire if bush camping is not your thing. All camping areas have basic facilities – however you must remember to bring your own drinking water and firewood

No permits are required to visit the area, however if you are planning to camp a fee does apply.

Things to do and see...
- A trail walk along the Old Great North Road – starting at Wisemans Ferry and discover the convict transportation route and also see some beautiful examples of early convict engineering through the preserved convict built stonework along the way.
- Catch a Ferry from Wisemans Ferry across the Hawkesbury River to St Albans to discover the surrounding area.
- Visit Burragurra Aboriginal site and Finchley Aboriginal site and see some fascinating rock carvings.
- Mountain bike riding, hiking, bushwalking or just a picnic.
